If you want the ability to edit your own site content without having to contact the developer everytime, then it is definitely worth installing a content management system (CMS). There are lots of CMS's available today, which allow clients to edit page content including images and links by logging in to a administration panel.

I mainly use Joomla as a content management platform due to its flexibility and well established extension base. I develop bespoke Joomla templates that can be integrated into the CMS so that clients can have complete control of features such as blogs, article production and image gallery managememt.
